PBC D® is golden in colour and has a consistency of an NLGI No. 2 grease. It does not, however, contain any soap grease, silicones, lead or nickel. PBC/D® is a mineral oil based organo-metallic complex formed by a combination of high surface area silica, high molecular weight polymers and soft non-ferrous metallic powders.

PBC/D® is suitable for use as a non-melt extreme pressure lubricant for use between slow moving surfaces when exposed to intermittent heating up to 230°C. Continuous use as a grease at temperatures up to 150°C is possible. Above these temperatures and at temperatures up to and beyond 800°C compounds form oxide deposits which are highly effective in preventing seizure of mating surfaces.

As an anti-seize compound and torque reduction medium PBC/D® will not reduce friction to a level which will encourage fastenings to loosen. Typical co-efficient of friction = 0.1 at 20°C. Effective up to and beyond 800°C.

As a protective grease PBC/D® acts as a lubricating seal to prevent ingress of water and corrosive solutions. It may also be used as a jointing compound and anti-squeal medium.

In roller bearings PBC/D® may be used as an anti-fretting medium when used in roller bearings. Such bearings are found in variable pitch blade fans, the king pin thrust bearings of heavy vehicles and universal joints. The bearing housings must be completely filled with grease.

PBC/D® is designed for use as a protective high temperature non-drip/melt lubricant for regreasable conveyor trolley wheel bearings and chain rollers provided with regreasable rolling bearings. It can be safely used in conveyor bearings operating over phosphating plants and has been found to have no deleterious effect on either hot and low temperature acid phosphate solutions.

PBC/D® acts as an anti-fretting medium where relative movement between plain bearing surfaces is of a low magnitude. Examples of such conditions are found between cement kiln rings and shoes, in locomotive brake slack adjusters, automatic heavy vehicle drum brake adjusters, between bearings sleeves/rings and housings and where splined power transmission shafts are used.
